Why one engineer built Dockhold.

More than a decade ago I finished my degree in electronic engineering, specializing in satellite network design. At the time I was completely absorbed in building smart homes and connected devices, the kind of thing nobody had a clean name for yet. A few years later the world started calling it IoT.

Then the economy did its thing and I had to make a living, so I drifted from hardware into software. But the part I actually loved never changed. I like making separate things talk to each other, and I really like making boring, repetitive work just happen on its own. That's what pulled me into DevOps, and then into platform engineering, where I spent years taking messy infrastructure and getting it out of people's way so they could focus on the thing they actually wanted to build.

Dockhold came out of that. It started as a pretty simple idea: take what I've learned from running things in production and hand it to the people who want to create and experiment, without making them learn all the painful parts first.

That's really the whole point. I make it easier for you to get your work out into the world. You go make someone's life a little better, in whatever way you do that.
